The Outlook Study

This study takes a claim astrology makes constantly—this chart describes a person—and gives it a defined comparison. Participants complete a short personality inventory and answer questions about values, risk, optimism and decision-making.

Methodology

Personality, values and chart personalization are evaluated separately, because the chart may describe one more successfully than another.

The Traits

Which chart factors track personality: the elements, modalities or lights? Each is compared with the Big Five through a standard ten-item inventory.

The Outlook

Beyond broad traits, this part considers core values, optimism, appetite for risk and, when a participant chooses to share them, political and spiritual outlook.

The Real Chart

Does the true birth chart perform better than plausible incorrect charts? This isolates whether correct birth data adds information beyond common patterns.

Why this is measurable: Mainstream personality research has generally found astrology unrelated to measured traits. That makes a careful test more interesting, not less: the method has to outperform a clear null expectation.

The findings

Results in Three Phases

The analysis becomes more precise as the sample grows. Every phase keeps the misses.

Phase 1 Now filling

Preliminary

A first look at the signal once 400 charts are in. Early results, wide uncertainty, published openly.

Phase 2

Expanded

The analysis runs again at 2,500 charts, with tighter estimates and checks on what survived Phase 1.

Phase 3

Full

The complete analysis at 5,000 charts, including what worked, what failed and what remains uncertain.

How it stays honest

How We Keep It Honest

A real test. Mainstream research has generally found astrology and measured personality unrelated, so this study can genuinely fail. A null result is still a result and will be published.

Standard instruments. Personality is measured with the Big Five rather than a bespoke astrology quiz, allowing comparison with published psychology.

Sensitive answers are optional. Political and spiritual questions may be skipped. Any answers supplied are kept anonymous, analyzed only in aggregate and never sold.
